How can you help?
At this stage, we are working on speaking to airlines, hotels, and rental car companies to get tickets, rooms, and/or a car donated. But in the meantime, there are several ways you can help.
1. Donate Frequent Flyer miles -- for airfare and rental car for the production.
2. or if you have corporate contacts, if they believe in the cause of the film, they will often donate miles, rooms, cars, etc themselves
3. If you know anyone who could host two of us in Houston -- the catch is it's during the holiday season
4. If you have corporate contacts at Apple, Sony or Panasonic, they often donate equipment on loan for production purposes
5. If you have any consumer level miniDV camcorders you no longer use, that are accumulating dust in some closet, or were about to throw out, I would like to give our families camcorders to document their own lives.
Help in the longer term:
1. Host a fund-raising houseparty -- Moorie Warshovsky's well-known strategy for Fund-raising Houseparties have been known to raise several thousand dollars, and he has even said occassionally you can hit the $20,000 mark! If you are willing and able to host a houseparty -- we can discuss the strategies. (I know some of you have offered already, and I would love to discuss the plans!)
2. If you are an artist, or have any artist friends -- writers, painters, photographers, crafters, etc. -- if you would be willing to donate any of your work, we're going to arrange a fundraising event for which it may be useful, upon return from the production trip.
We are also working on developing a website through which you can donate money that will be tax-deductible -- we'll keep you posted!
If you have any other suggestions on ways we can raise money or get goods/services donated, we are open to innovative ideas and strategies!
