Shilpi Gupta began to pursue documentary filmmaking
at
UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism.
A long time aficionado of still photography,
she has shot throughout the world -
from the temples of Tibet, to the wildlife of the Masai Mara,
to the backwaters of India.
On a Human
Rights Center fellowship
to document the unique plight of women and children
in regions of conflict, specifically Kashmir,
Shilpi met the men and women of Kunan Pushpora.
Soon after, Shilpi returned to film
When the Storm Came -
her first film, completed as her masters' thesis.
